O mar como ciência: instituições e estratégias da investigação sobre o mar em Portugal no século XX (da Primeira República à democracia) / The sea as science: ocean research institutions and strategies in Portugal in the twentieth century (from the First Republic to democracy)

A perspectiva histórica revelou o interesse português pelo mar numa série de iniciativas e entidades ao longo do século XX. Desde o início do século à Revolução de 1974, estuda-se a génese de organismos vocacionados para a investigação científica do mar, observando suas missões específicas no contexto da formulação de políticas científicas, concretamente na definição de “políticas do mar”. A vocação marítima portuguesa, a realidade costeira e a posição geográfica estimulam a valorização do conhecimento sobre o mar. Percorrendo diferentes conjunturas histórico-políticas e ciclos de desenvolvimento, captam-se pressupostos e implicações políticas que acentuam a dimensão estratégica da política científica, visível na afirmação geopolítica das questões do mar agregadas sob a oceanografia.

Historical perspective has revealed the many aspects of Portugal’s interest in the sea, evident in a series of initiatives and entities throughout the twentieth century. From the beginning of the century until the 1974 Revolution, the genesis of organizations devoted to the scientific study of the sea is analyzed, observing their specific missions in the context of the formulation of science policy, and more specifically “ocean policies.” The Portuguese valued knowledge of the sea due to their maritime vocation, coastal life and geographic position. Traversing different historical and political contexts and development cycles, the assumptions and political implications that accentuate the strategic dimension of science policy, visible in the geopolitical affirmation of oceanography, are studied.

A virtude como ato no luto / The virtue as act in the mourning

Apresentamos a pesquisa que tem como objetivo relacionar a virtude na elaboração de sentido no luto. Fundamentado na fenomenologia husserliana e na antropologia filosófica de Stein que descreve a estrutura da pessoa humana na unidade de suas dimensões - do corpo, da psique e do espírito -, e contempla o sujeito nas interações afetivas, sociais e espirituais na comunidade. A partir da dinâmica da potência-ato, ressaltamos o conceito de força, pertinente à dimensão do espírito, como o núcleo central que nos possibilita estabelecer a relação com o habitus ou virtude, considerada como potência atualizada, como ato. Reconhecemos a presença da virtude como disposição constitutiva da pessoa que depende do contexto bio-psico-espiritual-social para se atualizar. Esta reflexão visa contribuir com a atuação do psicólogo diante do luto e destacar o sentido do valor e do cuidado com o humano na psicologia e em nossa cultura.(AU)

We present a theoretical research that aims to relate the virtue in the process of elaboration of meaning in mourning experience. Reasoned in Husserl?s phenomenology and in Stein?s philosophical anthropology that explain the human personal structure in dimension unities - body, psyche and spirit -, and contemplates the subject in the community. Starting with the dynamics of power- act, we remark the concept of force, relevant to the dimension of the spirit, as a central core that allow us to establish a relation with habitus or virtue, considered as updated power, meaning as act. We recognize the presence of virtue as personal constitutive provision that depends on the context of bio-psychic-spiritual-social to be updated. This reflection aims to contribute updating psychologist performance facing mourning and highlight the meaning of value and care with human in psychology and in our culture.(AU)
